Our program prepares residents to care for patients across Alaska and Seattle, with training experiences that span rural, remote, and urban communities. Residents learn about health inequities affecting the communities we serve and the social, cultural, geographic, and structural factors that influence health and access to care.

Throughout residency, didactics and clinical experiences emphasize culturally responsive care, health equity, and the unique challenges of delivering healthcare in rural and remote settings. Residents also benefit from the broad clinical, scholarly, and educational opportunities available throughout Alaska and the University of Washington system. Elective rotations provide additional opportunities to train in communities across Alaska, including at healthcare organizations operated by Alaska Native tribal health organizations.
