Professional Development

Mentorship

All of our residents will be assigned a faculty mentor (the program director, site director, or a core faculty member) and are required to meet at least twice per year with that person. Mentors work with individual resident goals in mind and facilitate connections with other faculty who can help that resident.

Professional Development fund

Each resident will receive $400 for professional development each academic year.

CME Conferences

Residents will be encouraged to attend at least one yearly professional development conference, such as the region or national America College of Physicians (ACP) meeting or the regional or national Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM) meeting.  Professional development funds provided through the resident union agreement can help to subsidize these experiences.

Resident Retreats

Yearly resident retreats will be offered (in Seattle for PGY1 and in Alaska for PGY2 and PGY3) to nurture community-building and professional development.
