Salary
Effective July 1, 2024, the annual compensation for residents in the University of Washington Alaska Internal Medicine Rural Residency Program will be:
- R1: $76,032 ($67,532 salary plus $8,500 allowance)
- R2: $78,660 ($70,160 salary plus $8,500 allowance)
- R3: $81,552 ($73,052 salary plus $8,500 allowance)

VACATION
All trainees receive four weeks of vacation per year.
INSURANCE
Major medical, dental, basic life, accident, and long-term disability insurance plans are provided to all housestaff and their dependents. Optional supplemental life insurance and a flexible spending account for medical expenses are available through the University of Washington.
RETIREMENT
Residents and fellows are included in the UW Retirement Plan. Housestaff may also choose to participate in the UW Voluntary Investment Program (VIP), a tax-deferred retirement savings program.
OTHER BENEFITS
Housestaff are entitled to staff privileges at the University of Washington, including use of the libraries, on-line services, the Intramural Activities Building (with extensive sports facilities, equipment, and activities), and reduced prices on tickets for some sports and cultural activities. Other benefits include dependent care assistance, home-buying options, transportation, and employee discounts.
Residents will receive assistance with relocation expenses incurred in the move from Seattle, WA to the Soldotna, AK area. Travel and lodging will be provided or reimbursed for required away rotations in AK per the UW-RFPU Collective Bargaining Agreement. Residents in Soldotna will receive one complimentary meal per day from the Central Peninsula Hospital cafeteria.
